Writing for the Friday Fictioneers again. The photo prompt this week-

“Because that is why people watch us on TV.” Wilma answered, gathering the mixture of rice and curry in the stone boat and carefully pouring it in Pebbles’ mouth.
“Mommy, why are our spoons different?” muffled Pebbles.
“Because we are people from stone-age, Pebbles. Everything we do is different than them. We eat with spoons, they with forks. We are happy in our caves, they have caved their happiness.”
Just then, Fred came wobbling in, “C’mon everybody, time to entertain the fork people!”
“Yabba dabba dooo!!” exclaimed the Flintstones family, together!

You remember The Flintstones, don't you? Here's the IMDb link. They depict the modern conveniences in the stone-age. I, thinking it fit for the prompt this week, took a different aspect of the same theme. Do let me know how you connected with it!
Thank you Marie Gail Stratford for that thoughtful picture, and Rochelle, for putting it up this week :)
Hahaha! Cute take. The Flintstones angle was great. I never thought of them eating Indian dishes.
ReplyDeleteYou know the picture did not quite fit in my head too, but again, I'm sure imagination costs nothing ;)
DeleteCartoons in our time wer d best !
ReplyDeleteNice one soumyaa!
I know! These days they've taken an irritating turn, with cartoons which can hardly live up to the term. You've seen "Oggy"? I have that in mind right now. Woof!
DeleteThis is great! I love your interpretation of the prompt. Very creative!
ReplyDeleteThank you Morris. Creativity compliments are the best ;)
DeleteNice interpretation of the prompt. ' We are happy in our caves, they have caved their happiness.' Loved it.
ReplyDeleteThank you Indira ji. Your appreciation is well appreciated!
DeleteTotally different interpretation -- and I really liked it! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! :)
DeleteMade me nostalgic about the stuff that ran on Cartoon Network.. Stuff these days that gets passed on to the screen is just bleh
ReplyDeleteExatly! We need a revolution again
DeleteDear Soumyaa,
ReplyDeleteA very unique take on the prompt. Cute.
Shalom,
Rochelle
Thank you Rochelle. I'm glad you found it 'cute'.
DeleteI've had some cars that I thought needed holes for your feet where I could run like Fred. - Russell
ReplyDeleteI think I'll walk ;)
DeleteThanks Russell
Too good Soumya! Very creative and I loved the "caved their happiness" part. ! :')
ReplyDeleteMuch Love :)
Hi Sharu, It's most humbling to receive such a comment. Thank you is too short, even for 2 words!
DeleteLove replicated :)
I loved this story! This was an imaginative and creative take on the prompt and I thought you did a great job!
ReplyDeleteWow, thank you Michael. I'm overjoyed reading your comment!
Delete“We are happy in our caves, they have caved their happiness.” That is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteEvery word reflects your inner feelings like a mirror :).
Being a person who grew up watching all those wonderful cartoons makes me feel very disappointed to see the cartoons being aired today.
The confidence to experiment with new ideas is what makes a person very special. Well at least that’s what I feel about them.
Is it really time to entertain the fork family ? !!! ;) :P
You always understand the inner feelings, stranger. (See the irony? I love it ;) )
DeleteI get disappointed too. Yes there are some which educate the children, others majorly reflect negative attitudes. There's really not much learning going on that way.
Well, I'm only hoping I keep you entertained ;)
Nice one....
ReplyDeleteThank you Prasanth
DeleteSoumyaa, That was a creative use of the prompt. Humorous and well written. :) ---Susan
ReplyDeleteThanks Susan :) You know, Kent is such a driving force. He always helps me even if I mail him 6 in the morning!
DeleteChapter 28?! Where did you get all that patience from? ;)
ReplyDeleteDear Soumyaa, I enjoyed your story and your comment about "caved in" is brilliant! I got a kick out of the cartoons for Fred & Wilma Flinstone - and Pebbles. I even remember the "Looney Tunes" and Bugs & Daffy. My favorite was that "Rooten' Tooten" Sam. Great job! Nan :)
ReplyDeleteDear Nan,
DeleteI am so glad you enjoyed the story. Looney Tunes, ah! I was specially in awe with the title. I had liked Sam too, for some reason I found him hilarious!
Thanks for being here :)
Great idea!!! And you captured their spirit so well.
