The un-forked Flintstones

Writing for the Friday Fictioneers again. The photo prompt this week-

“Mommy, why do we still live in caves?” asked Pebbles.

“Because that is why people watch us on TV.” Wilma answered, gathering the mixture of rice and curry in the stone boat and carefully pouring it in Pebbles’ mouth.

“Mommy, why are our spoons different?” muffled Pebbles.

“Because we are people from stone-age, Pebbles. Everything we do is different than them. We eat with spoons, they with forks. We are happy in our caves, they have caved their happiness.”

Just then, Fred came wobbling in, “C’mon everybody, time to entertain the fork people!”

“Yabba dabba dooo!!” exclaimed the Flintstones family, together!

The Flintstones and the Rubble

You remember The Flintstones, don't you? Here's the IMDb link. They depict the modern conveniences in the stone-age. I, thinking it fit for the prompt this week, took a different aspect of the same theme. Do let me know how you connected with it!

Thank you Marie Gail Stratford for that thoughtful picture, and Rochelle, for putting it up this week :)

  1. Hahaha! Cute take. The Flintstones angle was great. I never thought of them eating Indian dishes.

    1. I know! These days they've taken an irritating turn, with cartoons which can hardly live up to the term. You've seen "Oggy"? I have that in mind right now. Woof!

  11. “We are happy in our caves, they have caved their happiness.” That is wonderful.
Every word reflects your inner feelings like a mirror :).

Being a person who grew up watching all those wonderful cartoons makes me feel very disappointed to see the cartoons being aired today.

The confidence to experiment with new ideas is what makes a person very special. Well at least that’s what I feel about them.
Is it really time to entertain the fork family ? !!! ;) :P

    1. You always understand the inner feelings, stranger. (See the irony? I love it ;) )

I get disappointed too. Yes there are some which educate the children, others majorly reflect negative attitudes. There's really not much learning going on that way.

Well, I'm only hoping I keep you entertained ;)

  14. Dear Soumyaa, I enjoyed your story and your comment about "caved in" is brilliant! I got a kick out of the cartoons for Fred & Wilma Flinstone - and Pebbles. I even remember the "Looney Tunes" and Bugs & Daffy. My favorite was that "Rooten' Tooten" Sam. Great job! Nan :)

    1. Dear Nan,
I am so glad you enjoyed the story. Looney Tunes, ah! I was specially in awe with the title. I had liked Sam too, for some reason I found him hilarious!

      Thanks for being here :)
